Allergy Treatment | AllTopics.com

Without doubt, avoiding the allergens is the best and the easiest treatment for allergies. But, most people fail to follow this method and opt for the use of medications (possibly with side effects), as an allergy treatment. Luckily, there are a number of easy, cheap methods which could help a person avoid allergens.

People who suffer from Asthma can make their home allergens free by making very simple changes to their house, without re-arranging and refurnishing the whole place. Such measures include:

Keeping the temperature of the house between 68 to 72 F`,
Making their house a well ventilated place, and
Maintaining a low humidity level.

It should be noted though that when patients try to clean their houses they do nothing or they get carried away. That is, the process overwhelm them and they end up taking no measures or they get caught up in the method so much that they end up spending a lot of money, making the whole process extremely expensive.

Patients could start their allergy treatment by taking the easy steps first, such as:

Use of Hot Water:

The greatest numbers of dust mites are present in the bedroom and patients spend almost 8 hours a day in the bedroom, therefore increasing the probability of getting an allergic reaction. Therefore, the most effective method of allergy treatment is making the bedroom, especially the bed, allergen proof. Scientific research has shown the easiest method to do is to wash the bed sheets and bed covers with water at 130 F`.

Precautionary measures while using warm water:

Patients should keep in mind while buying bedding material that it can withstand warm and a weekly wash, for washing bed covers is an important method of allergy treatment. Furthermore, instead of buying bulky and heavy bedding materials, patients with dust allergies should opt for lighter material as it is easier to wash and less likely to host dust mites.

Vacuuming the house:

A carpet free house is better for patients, but if getting rid of the carpets is not possible for the patient he must vacuum the carpets along with sofas and curtains daily in order to get rid of as many dust mites as possible. A precautionary measure taken while vacuuming the house is that the patient must not be in the same room as the one being vacuumed. The reason being during the vacuuming process, dust mites become air borne, and are more likely to enter the patients breathing cavity.

Opt for Hard surfaces while undergoing allergy treatment:

As stated above hard surfaced floors are better than having carpeted floors, research studies have proved that replacing carpets with wood or tile floors eliminates about 90% of the dust mites as it is easier to clean hard floors than carpeted ones. But if the patient must have a carpeted floor, use of carpets with thin fibers is recommended while undergoing an allergy treatment.

By following the above mentioned steps, the patient will feel healthier as they are the most effective and easy methods of getting an allergy treatment.
